Litangen has been involved in international endeavors for more than 25 years.

Initially focusing on climate change issues as a consultancy. The work was executed in the space between The Environment Program of UN, the UN Secretariat of the climate change conventions and the International (research) Panel on Climate Change.

Since 2008, Cato Litangen has been managing Mimeta, an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting cultural rights and artistic freedom. Sponsors of Mimeta has been Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Swedish International Development Agency, Postcode Lotteries in Holland and Sweden, Ford Foundation and Open Society Foundations.

When operating in the role as specialized agency between funders and implementing partners you are questioned on governance, fund management, risk and compliance capabilities. You need compelling monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning systems in place. Proving your relevance is a matter of strategic effectiveness and credibility in the sector of interventions.
